A really nice facility with a beautiful lake. Try and get a lake side spot.

The area in Lafayette is full of great eating restaurants. In fact, if you like fried pork rinds or have never tried a fried pork rind, I highly recommend the grocery store right across from the park entrance.

While in the area, we also recommend taking a tour of the Tobasco Plant in Avery Island, La. You can smell the Tobasco as soon as you exit your vehicle. They have a tour which runs every hour or so and it's actually a pretty good tour.

Finish your tour off with a visit to the Tobasco Store and try the Jalapeno Ice Cream. Yes, I said Jalapeno Ice Cream. You will be amazed at how well it taste, although you can't buy it in bulk.

Just got through making a post about the Jalapeno Ice Cream. We were actually expecting it to really not taste that good, but it was very good. And you are correct, they wouldn't sell us any of the ice cream either. But they didn't have an issue with selling us $80 bucks worth of T-Shirts and toys.
