One time a couple of years ago we were traveling with our friends and heading to San Diego From Las Vegas, Just outside of the Las Vegas city limit heading west on I-15 I could not avoid hitting a large black road gator with the trailer tires. The right forward one blew immediately and the aft one was flat when I got pulled over. Our friends traveling with us had a trailer with the same size tires as ours so we used both of our spar tires and continued on our trip west. We could not find any tires in Baker, CA so continued on to a little town near Barstow, CA called Yermo. There, we found a KOA so we got a couple of sites for what ending up being two nights while hunting for replacement tires.

The RV sites in the Yermo KOA were in such disarray it was hard to get into and out of them. They had tried to make it look like a much greener place than it really was. Being in the desert cannot be hidden. It was a convenient place to stay and none of us had ever stopped in Barstow long enough to look around before. We found tires (of all places) at a local service station that were acceptable replacements and spent the second day doing all the swapping. We had a FHU at the KOA and got some nice items in their large store for very reasonable prices. It ended up being a nice experience in a desert setting with friendly and very helpful employees.
